Jaguar Announces It’s First Crossover: The F-Pace

We have seen a recent trend among luxury automobile manufacturers: most of them are planning to release an SUV or a crossover type vehicle. Maserati has one in the works, Alfa Romeo plans to make one, and even Bentley is going to produce one also. Well following that trend and to stay competitive, Jaguar is also going to produce a SUV/crossover vehicle and it is going to be called the F-Pace.

At the recent 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Jaguar has confirmed that it is going to be producing a production version of the CX-17 (pictured above). The CX-17 was a concept car introduced back in 2013 to much acclaim, and the new F-Pace will be based off of that concept car.

Unfortunately the details on their new F-Pace are extremely hazy, as Jaguar has only said that they are producing it, rather than showing off a version of the car. Actually as of now, there are no pictures or videos of the F-Pace, but we can probably expect it to look very similar to the CX-17. Ian Callum, the design director for the company, said “The F-Pace, inspired by the F-type, represents a perfectly judged balance of performance, style, and practicality”.

So while we don’t know much, the vehicle will probably accommodate five people, and offer comparable features to other luxury SUV’s. If the vehicle is priced similar to the F-type, I would imagine that in terms of performance it could be similar to the Porsche Cayenne, but that’s just speculation.

Jaguar has confirmed that the vehicle will launch sometime in 2016, so more details about the vehicle will probably come out within the coming months to a year. Luxury SUV’s and crossovers have been on the rise recently, and Jaguar hopes the F-Pace will attract new customers to the brand.
