Inside Aston Martin’s $516,000 Dollar V12 Zagato

Aston Martin V12 Zagato

Aston Martin is a well known British car manufacturer that produces a variety of high-end luxury grand tourers and sports cars. The company has provided James Bond with many vehicles, and is a timeless English automobile manufacturer. The company has made many different vehicles over the years that are always well received.

Aston Martin has collaborated with the privately held custom coach building company that is Zagato. Back in late 1950’s the two worked together to bring the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato to life in 1960. To commemorate 50 years of working together, the two companies once again collaborated on a vehicle and delivered the Aston Martin V12 Zagato back in 2012.

The Aston Martin V12 Zagato was an interesting vehicle that was either loved or hated; it was a pretty polarizing vehicle. Essentially Aston Martin took a V12 Vantage and made some modifications to the vehicle. The front of the V12 Zagato was similar to a Vantage however Aston and Zagato changed the roof, middle, and rear sections of the vehicle.

The vehicle was created to be a endurance racing vehicle and it was good at that. Being an Aston Martin the vehicle was very comfortable to sit in and use, especially for long periods of time. The vehicle features a 6.0 liter V12 engine that had 510 brake horse power and 420 pounds-feet of torque; the same engine found in a V12 vantage. The vehicle also featured a light weight aluminum body and some carbon fiber parts. Additionally being a endurance race car, this Aston had a massive 31 gallon fuel tank.

The car was produced in limited numbers that were only supposed to be 150, however that number ended up being 101. The vehicles retailed for around $518,000 dollars when they were first introduced. These cars excelled at what they were designed for: long-distance racing, however outside of that, it does not make a whole lot of sense to buy this car given the other vehicles that Aston Martin makes. Either way it was still an interesting vehicle.
