The Highest Selling Mercedes Models of 2014

Mercedes Benz

Mercedes-Benz produces a variety of luxury sedans, coupes, sports cars, and SUVs each year. Their vehicles are typically more expensive than others and are much more premium. So while cars like the Toyota Corolla or the Honda Accord sell more units each year, its only because they cost a lot less than a Mercedes-Benz. The range of Mercedes-Benz is pretty immense: their vehicles range from $29,000 dollars to as high as $230,000 dollars. In their wide range of vehicles they have a car that should meet all of your needs, however not every car is sold equally. It probably is no surprise that Mercedes doesn’t ship many units of their $220,000 SLS-Class Roadster each year, there just is not as large of  a market for that vehicle compared to their others. We are going to look at the most popular Mercedes-Benz models for this past year in the United States, and break them down via class.

The CLA-Class

First up on our list are the CLA-Class vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. I was actually surprised to see this vehicle lower on the list than the other Mercedes models, since these are their most attractive vehicles in terms of price. The CLA-Class is comprised of the companies entry-level cars. Inside the CLA-Class we have just two vehicles: The CLA250 and the CLA45. The CLA250 starts at $29,900 dollars and it is currently their most cost efficient vehicle. But don’t expect to much out of these cars. They are still nice, however you are mainly paying for that Mercedes logo; you aren’t going to win any races in these. The CLA250 has a 2.0 liter turbo inline 4-cylinder engine that has 208 horsepower, 258 pounds-feet of torque, and goes from 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. The CLA45 has a more powerful AMG 2.0 liter turbo inline 4-cylinder engine and packs 355 horsepower and 332 pounds-feet of torque. This $47,450 car is a step up from the 250 and can go from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. These cars have pretty basic luxury features, but they are still nice.

The GLK-Class

Next up we have the GLK-Class with the GLK250 SUV and the GLK350 SUV. Sport utility vehicles are still very popular in the United States, and this the second best selling SUV class that Mercedes currently has. These two vehicles are a step up from their entry level GLA-Class SUVs and provide more power and luxury. The GLK250 starts at $39,400 dollars and has a 2.1 liter twin-turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine that gives the car 200 horsepower, 369 pounds-feet of torque, and a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The GLK350 starts at $37,000 and it has a 3.5 liter V6 engine with 302 horsepower and 273 pounds-feet of torque. The GLK250 is definitely the better purchase if towing is important to you due to its higher torque and its diesel engine, however I don’t think I have ever seen a driver in a Mercedes SUV toe something.

The M-Class

The M-Class vehicles are next on our list and their are Mercedes’ mid-ranged luxury SUV’s. Inside this class we have the ML250, ML350, the ML400, and the ML63 AMG. These cars can more or less have the same luxury features, depending on how much you want to spend with the real difference between them being power and performance. The ML250 starts at $49,800 while the ML63 starts at $98,400 locking down its spot as a luxury SUV. The ML250 has a twin turbo 2.o liter diesel engine, the ML350 has a 3.5 liter V6, the ML400 has  a 3.0 liter biturbo V6, while the ML63 has a 5.5 liter AMG V8. If price is a non-issue, the ML63 is easily the best in this class.

The C-Class

A step up from the entry level Mercedes’ are the vehicles found in the C-Class. These are also the second highest selling Mercedes models and some of the most popular ones. In this class we find many vehicles. First their are two sedans the C300 and the C400 and both have 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The C300 is $40,400 dollars and comes with a 2.0 liter turbo 4-cylinder engine. The C400 has a 3.0 liter biturbo V6 and it starts at $48,590. There are also three coupes in this class: the C250, the C350, and the C63 AMG. These cars range in price from $39,400 to $63,000. The C63 is definitely the most attractive with its handcrafted 6.3 liter AMG V8 engine.

The E-Class

Finally the most popular Mercedes-Benz vehicles all come from their E-Class. There are many cars inside this class and they are certainly higher-end vehicles. In the sedan world we have the E250, the E350, the E400, and the E63. There are also two coupes in the class and they are the E400 coupe, and the E550. These vehicles range in price from $51,800 to $100,600 making them some of the more expensive Mercedes-Benz’s. You’ll find these cars loaded with bells and whistles and aside from the E250, they all have various V6 or V8 engines. The reason these cars are the most popular is that Mercedes is first and foremost a luxury car company, and these cars are exactly that. Sure all of their cars are nice, however the E class gives you everything you would want in these vehicles in terms of features, appearance, and performance. For more information about all of these vehicles head on over to their website where you can trick them out however you’d like.
