Five Things You Didn’t Know about the Cadillac SRX

The New York International Auto Show Kicks Off In New York City

The Cadillac brand is an American car company that has been a classic ever since the first Cadillac’s rolled out in 1902. Ever since then, Cadillac has been rolling out some fantastic American luxury cars to consumers everywhere. The Cadillac SRX is a luxury mid-sized crossover sport utility vehicle that has been Cadillac’s best selling vehicle since 2010. With factories in America, Russian, and China the Cadillac SRX is sold across the world. In this article we are going to take a look at five things you probably didn’t know about this luxury crossover.

5. It comes standard with a V6 engine

The Cadillac SRX comes off the line with a standard 3.6L V6 engine. This impressive engine provides the driver with 308 brake horse power and a 6- speed automatic gearbox. The older models of the SRX featured a 3.0L and a 2.8L engine, but that wasn’t enough for Cadillac so they beefed it up to the 3.6L engine that provides 265 pounds of torque. One can also opt for an even bigger 4.6L LH2 Northstar V8 if the V6 isn’t enough for you.

4. You can pause the radio

The Cadillac SRX comes with a built in hard disk drive that allows drivers to pause the radio. If your favorite song comes on while your driving, but you happen to get a phone call, you can pause the radio and the SRX will record up to 20 minutes of radio while you answer your call (with hands free Bluetooth of course).

3. You can get an intelligent Bose noise cancellation and stereo system

Cadillac offers consumers an added option for a Bose “Active Noise Cancellation System”. This intelligent system has three different microphones located throughout the vehicle that monitors outside noise and engine/transmission noise. The Bose system then generates a cancellation noise signal in the cars interior that dampens outside and unwanted noise providing the driver and passengers with a quiet ride. This system also automatically adjusts the radio volume based on if you open the windows or sunroof, automatically adjusting the volume to a louder setting to be heard over the incoming wind.

2. You can get Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control is amazing. I have had the pleasure of driving a car with Adaptive Cruise Control and it is a few steps away from a self driving vehicle. Utilizing a complex system of radar and lasers, the SRX is able to monitor vehicles in front of it and adjust the speed accordingly. All you have to do is activate the Adaptive Cruise Control and hold onto the steering wheel, the vehicle will do the rest. If a car in front of you slows down, the SRX will also slow down to match its speed and maintain a safe driving distance. It will even let the car come to a complete stop, all you have to do is focus on the steering.

1. It has all-wheel drive with an electronic limited-slip differential system

For those of you that don’t understand what an electronic limited-slip differential is, it is essentially an intelligent system that allows for better driving and traction control allowing the SRX to monitor the conditions and RPM’s of each wheel. Let’s say you are driving and your front right tire hits a pool of water and starts hydroplaning, this intelligent system will adjust accordingly allowing you to remain in control of the vehicle as it adjusts the other wheels traction and speed.
