The Cadillac XT5 Makes Its Debut in Dubai

In an effort to compete with a growing global demand for luxury SUVs and crossovers, Cadillac has just recently shown off their all-new XT5. Cadillac is putting in a lot of hard work recently to be able to compete with the more popular vehicles from German brands like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW. The new XT5 has been designed extremely tastefully and it looks like a promising new crossover. Ahead of its launch, Cadillac and General Motors have recently just show off the vehicle at the Dubai International Motor Show, according to their press release:

Cadillac today unveiled the first-ever 2017 Crossover Touring 5 (XT5,) a comprehensively upgraded luxury crossover and the cornerstone of a new series of crossovers in the brand’s ongoing expansion. The first-ever XT5 premieres this month at the Dubai and Los Angeles auto shows and begins production in the U.S. and China in spring 2016.

“The all-new XT5 not only enters the most popular segment in the worldwide luxury auto market, it is the first of four new crossovers from Cadillac,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “It’s pivotal to our ongoing growth, which is why we’ve developed XT5 from the inside out to provide customers more space, more technology, more luxury and more efficiency.”

The XT5 is meant to directly compete with the Audi Q5’s and the BMW X6’s of the world, and it seems to be a solid, all-round crossover vehicle. The XT5 features a new lightweight design that offers the driver a more responsive driving experience. Additionally since they have saved weight on the design, there is a lot more interior room as well. Compared to the competition, the Cadillac XT5 is actually one of the lightest crossovers out there.

The XT5 will also feature a brand-new engine. It’s a 3.6-liter V6 that offers 310 horsepower in total. Potential buyers will also have the choice between front-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive configuration. We will have to wait for testing to see how this car performs, but it seems to be very powerful for a crossover. The XT5 also incorporates a new rear camera mirror, an eight-speed automatic transmission, a CUE system, and it will be able to offer both Android auto or Apple Carplay.

Cadillac and General Motors have also made many improvements to the interior of this vehicle. The XT5 is very stylshish, comfortable, and it is outfitted with many modern automobile luxuries. Compared to older Cadillacs whose interiors have often been criticized, the XT5 looks absolutely beautiful.

Production of the XT5 is set to being in the spring time of 2016, and the new models will be available for the 2017 model year. We still have to wait and see how much the vehicle will cost, however since it’s meant to go up against vehicles like the Audi Q5, I can’t imagine that it will be “cheap”, but at the same time it probably won’t cost as much as an Audi. So will the XT5 be the vehicle that reshapes Cadillac or will it just remain to be yet another crossover? I guess we will have to wait and see, but I must admit, this vehicle does look promising.
