The Bentley Continental GT V8 S is a Step Above the Rest

Bentley Continental GT V8 S 2

We really liked the Bentley Continental GT V8 when it first came out. It was powerful, fast, offered great amounts of luxury, but most importantly it gave us that unique and exceptional sound that only a V8 can provide. I guess Bentley felt that they could do better, so they then released the Bentley Continental GT V8 S and it is an improvement over the original in almost every single way. I mean, it has got an “S” in the name so that means it has to be better, right?

Adding an “S” to something instantly makes it better. Much like the iPhone 5S was better than the 5, this new Bentley is better than its predecessor. Obviously that “S” is meant to stand for something like “super”, “spectacular”, or “speed”, and that’s exactly what this Continental GT is.

First, and obviously, Bentley has increased the performance of this V8 by a significant amount. It offers 521bhp (21bhp more than the standard) and 680Nm of torque (20Nm more than the original). The engine itself comes from Audi and it’s quite nice. The Bentley Continental GT V8 S can go from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds, which is really impressive since the car weighs 5,060 pounds.

Outside of the power improvements, Bentley has added a lot of little things to this V8 that add up to a lot of improvements over the standard Continental GT V8. They’ve made it lighter, added air suspension, lowered the cars frame a bit, fiddled with the engine placement, and a variety of other small changes. All of those tiny changes are noticed in the end, and this is pretty much the most fun you can have in a 5,000-pound behemoth of a car. While it’s a big Bentley, the Continental GT V8 S handles shockingly well and at times, you might forget that you’re in a grand tourer and not a sports car. Also since it’s a Bentley you can also expect an endless list of luxury features that make it a true joy to be in. At the end of the day, the Bentley Continental GT V8 S is absolutely sublime.
