Alpina is a very small bespoke automobile manufacturer that is based out of Germany that produces custom vehicles that are based on BMW models. They are a separate company from BMW, and are somewhat similar to the AMG division that Mercedes-Benz has. Alpina takes existing BMW vehicles and then customizes and tunes them up to create their own vehicles, which are arguably better. They are basically BMW’s on steroids and they have recently announced two new models to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
Dubbed the Edition 50 Sedan and the Edition 50 Coupe, these two new vehicles are among some of the most promising cars that we have seen from the company. Their new vehicles are based on the BMW 5 Series and the 6 Series that we all know and love. Alpina is putting their best foot forward with these two new models, and they certainly seem very promising.
Alpina will use custom, hand-crafted bodies for their Edition 50’s which is certainly a welcome feature. They will also be completely overhauling the interior, customizing everything from the trim and seats to the dashboard. They are known for their bespoke work, so I am sure the final products will be very attractive. Still the most important change is what they are doing to the engines. They have seriously tuned the existing BMW engines to all new heights. These large V8 engines will now put out 600hp in total. This will allow the Edition 50’s to reach speeds of 204 mph and it gives them a 0-60 mph time that’s a bit less than 4.2 seconds. That fact makes these new models some of the most powerful that the company has ever produced.
We expect Alpina to being rolling out the vehicle sometime soon, and you can bet that you will be paying a premium for one. Prices are expected to start at $126,000 dollars and they will also only be producing just 50 units of each model in total.
