The 707hp Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Is A Monster

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

With it’s attractive looks, it’s 305hp engine, and the unbeatable $26,990 dollar price tag, the Dodge Challenger is certainly a very compelling vehicle for many. That’s probably why it’s one of the most popular muscle cars on the road today. But what if you wanted to go all-out and get something a bit more? Something that turns up the dial to eleven? Well that would be the Challenger SRT Hellcat, and it’s an absolute monster.

While the Hellcat looks somewhat similar on the outside compared to the “normal” Challengers, it’s what it has on the inside that counts. The Hellcat comes with a special aluminum hood, patented headlamps that funnel air into the airbox, matte black wheels, a few unique SRT Hellcat badges found throughout the car, racing seats unique to the car, a multimedia control sensor, and a range of other features. But we don’t care about those details that much, at the real reason you buy this car is for its engine.

Under the hood the Challenger SRT Hellcat has a 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine that pumps out 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. of torque, and you can bet that it sounds like a monster too. While comparing raw numbers is not always the best thing as there are other factors to consider when looking at performance, to give you some perspective, this car has more horsepower than a Mercedes-AMG GT S, a McLaren 675LT, and even a Ferrari California T. Now while the Hellcat most definitely does not match those cars in terms of how in handles around the track or luxury features, it’s still cool to see that this car has more raw horsepower than those other vehicles.

The vehicle can achieve a top speed of 199mph, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and it can complete a quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds. Those certainly aren’t bad numbers by anyones standard. While it’s not a supercar by any means, the Hellcat can hold its own in most situations. But then you realize that this car starts at $59,995. That’s right, you can buy a car with 707hp for under $60,000. The Challenger SRT Hellcat is sort of like a street-legal NASCAR vehicle that’s a bit more comfortable to drive. And that’s what muscle cars have always been about, more or less. While it’s not exactly a “luxurious” car or one that’s really reliable in the long run given Dodge’s reputation, for that price the Hellcat is an extremely compelling car. Sure there may be “better” cars out there that are more refined, but at $59,995 dollars, the 707hp Hellcat is quite the motor vehicle.
