2016 Chevy Camaro Breaks The Rules On How to Launch A New Performance Car

Typically when a car manufacturer wants to launch a new vehicle they organize a large event at a single location somewhere where they invite various members of the press to report on and drive the new vehicle. These events are usually large and are big productions, but Chevrolet wanted to change things up with the launch of their 2016 Camaro.

Instead of having a big event on a set date, Chevrolet first hyped up their vehicle with the hashtag “#FindNewRoads”. Once they’ve got that trending on various social media sites, they then launched the 2016 Camaro simultaneously across all of the continental United States. Chevrolet mapped out a massive road map and had various reporters drive multiple Camaros across the route, and had them simultaneously post about their experience on social media. So instead of having many articles that pretty much say the same thing about one event, we now have a range of different articles, from different journalists, that are discussing their individual time with the car. Smart, right?

Essentially the various drivers were provided with a debit card to cover their costs of transportation and were instructed to find their own hotels. Chevrolet then randomly provided the drivers with one of the various Camaro models and they were then let go and left up to their own devices to plan their various routes from the set starting and end points. The end result was a very unique way to launch a performance car with the help of social media.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will most likely be released sometime at the end of this year or in early parts of 2016. The Camrao will come in a range of different models and at different price points, which is the tradition with muscle cars of this nature. There’s the base model that has 2.0-liter turbo ending that delivers 275 hp, the mid-ranged model has a 3.6-liter V6 that offers 335 hp, and finally the high-end model that features a 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 455 hp in total. Additionally Chevrolet allows potential buyers to customize their Camaro in a variety of different ways, and they will even be available as convertibles.
