When you become famous, there are many additional avenues to make money outside of your main career. So long as you are a well-known celebrity you can make commercials for a company, launch a liquor line, or become a companies “brand ambassador”. Another popular route to take is to launch your own fragrance, and it can be really easy to pull off. For the most part celebrities are approached by a perfume house (or they approach one), they select an unreleased scent they like, and then they put their name and face on it. Suddenly both the celebrity and the company make a lot of money, as the ingredients used to make a fragrance are often very inexpensive. Celebrity fragrances are also really popular and are estimated to make up around 40% of all sales within the fragrance industry. So basically if you are famous and have the opportunity to launch a fragrance, you really should. It seems like every celebrity has a scent these days, so we are going to look at ten different ones that are pulling in the most amount of money.

Popular actress from Sex & The City, Sarah Jessica Parker has her own fragrance brand known as Lovely. What originally debuted as one single scent, has now evolved into an entire collection of different perfumes. When she first launched the product back in 2004, it sold $60 million in the first two years. It was reported that in 2010 Lovely had sold $45 million dollars worth in just that year, and it is even estimated that about 1/9th of her net worth is attributed to revenue generated from the fragrance brand.

Legendary former baseball player for the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter, also has his own brand of cologne. Jeter partnered up with Avon to develop his scent known as Driven. The cologne was first launched back in 2006 and total sales to this date are estimated to be over $30 million dollars. The scent has received very popular reviews, and is favored by both men and women alike.

Most people know Justin Bieber, and he also has a popular fragrance line. Someday was first launched in 2011, and was a perfume for women, since 99% of his fans are most likely female. The product was launched during what was probably the height of his career, and has been reported to have sold more than $3 million dollars worth in just the first month alone. Since then a few other fragrances have been introduced, and it is estimated that the entire brand is worth over $120 million dollars.

Sean Combs aka P.Diddy is another celebrity whose fragrance line, Unforgivable, is also worth millions. Diddy is no stranger to endorsements, and is also accredited for being the face of Ciroc vodka. His fragrance line launched in 2005 and was very successful. It’s reported that he sees $17.5 million dollars each year in revenue just from the Unforgivable line. His fragrances are available for both men and women and range between $70 to $300 dollars for a bottle.

Say what you want about Paris Hilton, but she does actually know how to conduct good business. While often portrayed as a ditzy socialite, she successfully managed to launch her own fragrance line which has now become a collection of 17 different scents. Since the line was originally launched, it is estimated to have sold around $2 billion dollars worth in sales, which she sees around 10% of.

5. Lady Gaga – FAME

Pop-star and singer, Lady Gaga, also has her own fragrance line that has become very successful. Gaga worked with Coty to develop the scent and released the perfume in 2012. FAME was an instant hit, and the sales were very strong which allowed her to release a second scent in 2014. It is reported that FAME has sold over 50 million bottles since it was first released, and has potentially generated over $1.5 billion in global sales.

4. Celine Dion – Celine Dion

Celine Dion has launched not one, but fourteen different fragrance brands over the years that have been very profitable. It is estimated that they have generated around $850 million dollars in sales so far. Celebrities usually see between 5-10% of retail sales for their fragrances, which means she potentially has made between $42.5 to $85.5 million dollars. Her fragrances were also developed by Coty.

3. Britney Spears – Curious

Despite being out of the limelight for some time now Britney Spears’ fragrance line, Curious, still sells really well and is one of the best selling celebrity fragrances of all time. This was largely due to how affordable it was, as when it was first introduce a bottle was $21 dollars. She has launched 16 scent total to this day, and they have reportedly sold over $2 billion dollars worth in sales since its debut in 2006.

2. Jennifer Lopez – Glow by JLo

Jennifer Lopez has made some good money with her fragrance line and has launched over 20 different fragrances since her first, Glow by JLo, came out. That fragrance still remains to be her most popular one, and it is reported that she has personally made more than $83 million dollars from her various scents over the years. Apparently she even earns more money from her fragrance line than she does from her music, further proof that launching a fragrance line is good if you are a celebrity.

Beyoncé has also got her own successful fragrance brand. Due to her popularity, Heat, sold extremely well when it was launched in 2010. In 2013 it was the best selling celebrity fragrance in the world, and has seen over $400 million dollars in sales. So basically if you are famous, the moral of this story is to launch a fragrance brand.
