The Five Richest Former Employees of Enron

enron

The Enron scandal went down as one of the biggest corporate scandals in history, and the business went under. Many employees were sentenced to jail time, but not everyone who worked for Enron was a criminal. Many people were innocent of any wrongdoing and lost their jobs like anyone else. However, not everyone who worked for Enron is down and out. These former employees are doing quite well for themselves.

Jeff Skilling – $2 million

Despite being one of the men responsible for the downfall of Enron and its scandal, he’s still worth an estimated $2 million. It’s good news for him, too, as his 24-year sentence was reduced by 10 years and he’s eligible for release from prison in less than three years time. He was ordered to pay $45 million in fines, but he’s still got a few million in the bank.

Rebecca P. Mark-Jusbasche – $80 million

She was the head of Enron International when she decided she’d had enough of the company. She resigned from her position in 2000, selling her stock when it was at a high. She reportedly made anywhere from $56 to $82 million from the sale of her stock. She was never accused of any wrongdoing and eventually went onto become the president of another company.

Lou Pai – $270 million

He’s the former CEO of one of the trading divisions of Enron. He suddenly left his job in 2001, selling his stake in the company and accepting $250 million for it. He was cleared of any wrongdoing in the corporate scandal, but he did have an affinity for strippers, getting one pregnant and losing his wife in the process.

John Arnold – $3.5 billion

After Enron went under, John Arnold decided to start his own trading firm. For 10 years, he worked investments and made a lot of money. In 2012, he closed his business and began doing charitable work with his wife, who is a Yale-educated lawyer. He didn’t let the scandal affect him.

Richard Kinder – $9.4 billion

He was the president and CEO of Enron from 1990 to 1996 when he decided to resign from his position and open his own company. He did so, quite successfully, and just in time. He was never accused of any wrongdoing, and he has an impressive net worth today because of it.
