CORT Business Services, Jordan’s Furniture, Nebraska Furniture Mart, and Star Furniture are all owned under the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. name.

Founded in 1990 by Jeffrey and Morty Seaman and headquartered in Seffner, Florida, Rooms to Go Incorporated operates over 100 stores throughout the country. Rooms To Go retail locations include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Puerto Rico.

3. Williams-Sonoma, Inc. – $2.0 billion

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. sells various kitchenware, furniture and linen products along with a variety of foods, soaps and lotions throughout the United States. Founded in 1956 and headquartered in San Francisco, the high-end consumer retail company currently has close to 600 retail stores across the country under a variety of names.

2. IKEA – $2.5 billion

Founded in Sweden in 1943, IKEA has become the largest furniture retailer in the world. The ready-to-assemble furniture, appliance and home accessory company opened its first U.S. store in 1985. Since then, the United States has become IKEA’s second largest market with close to 40 stores spread throughout the country.

Ashley Furniture HomeStores is a privately owned furniture store chain comprised of over 500 retail locations across North America that only sells Ashley-manufactured furniture. Since the company opened its first store in Anchorage, Alaska in 1997, Ashley Furniture HomeStores has become the number one home furniture retailer in North America.
