GPS Navigation systems are in high demand. People use their systems all the time to find where they’re going. It makes driving much easier to have a device on hand that’s going to tell you, turn-by-turn exactly where to go. It saves time, effort and energy. Read on to find out which five companies are the biggest in the industry.

TomTom – $1.2 billion

TomTom rounds out the list of largest GPS navigation systems with a market cap of $1.2 billion. It’s a lot lower than some of the other companies on the list, but with the ever changing face of technology, it’s not doing terribly. It’s not as widely used as some of the other systems, but it’s still a favorite.

OnStar – $7 billion

OnStar is a GM product. You’ll find it in all newer GM models. With the push of a button, a live operator will take the address of your destination and have a route sent to your vehicle. The vehicle will then provide you with turn-by-turn directions and even alternate routes and the ability to recalculate your location.

Garmin – $10.71 billion

Garmin is one of the leading navigation systems. With transponders that go into your vehicle and tell you where to go, they’re exceptionally popular. You can program to recognize your home, to find the cheapest gas and to customize your route.

Magellan – $18.2 billion

The Magellan GPS is one of the most trusted and most used in the world. It’s perfect for drivers that would prefer not to use their smart phones and/or do not have a car with OnStar or some other type of navigation system already installed. It’s the second largest GPS navigation system in the world.

Google – $387.81 billion

The biggest GPS navigation company in the world is Google, and it’s a little by default. Google owns Android, which is the provider of Google Maps. Google Maps is one of the most-used GPS systems in the world, and because it’s part of the Google family, it tops the list with a market cap over $387 billion.
