Located between the border of New York and Vermont, North Adams is a small town with a relatively low median income — at least, compared to the state itself, which is higher than the national average at $74,167. When compared to others on our list, however, North Adams seems not so bad!

North Adams is considered to be a good place to live considering most residents own their own homes and there is a distinct dense suburban feel.
