As one of the poorest states in the country, it’s no surprise that the median income of this Arkansas town is low. Over 50% of households bring in less than $22k a year, which is staggering when you think about it. The poverty rate in Helena-West Helena is more than double the state’s average, which is already at a very high 18.1%.

Helena-West Helena is located about seven and a half miles below the mouth of the St. Francis River and is located along the Mississippi River.
