High-End Vertu Luxury Smartphone Tops $10,750

Vetru Signature Touch

What’s the most you would be willing to spend on a new phone? $500?$1000? Well, how about over $10,000, because that’s what the price is for Vetru’s new luxury smartphone. The Vetru new Signature Touch model is currently priced at $10,750 (7,900 euros). That’s a wee bit more expensive than the newest iPhone.

Vetru calls itself a “luxury company which happens to produce mobile phones,” and the company states that its new phone possesses state of the art technology and superior craftsmanship and materials, in addition to its superior services, which include the popular concierge service, providing 24-hour worldwide assistance to all users.

“It’s the combination of these three things that make a superior luxury phone,” Max Pogliani, CEO of Vertu said to reporters on Tuesday, claiming that this new Vetru model is the new “pinnacle” smartphone, equipped with “state of the art technology” that can rival any of the other top phones on the market.

The new Vetru Signature Touch features a 4.7 inch full HD sapphire crystal screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor chip and Google’s Android 4.4 (KitKat) software. The phone shows the progression from Vetru’s Constellation model, which landed in stores last October and was priced at 4,900 euros, and also the Vertu Ti, which came out in early 2013, originally costing  7,900 euros, the same price that the new Signature Touch is at now.

“It really depends on how you look at it, because especially today a mobile phone is something which is with you day and night,” Pogliani said. “It’s something very personal and the intensity of usage in these two to three years is large compared to other luxury items. If you take a nice bottle of Chateau Lafite you can have it finished in one hour and the price could be the same.”
