Just making it onto the list of the five most expensive zip codes in the country is the Hamptons city of Sagaponack. The median price of a home in this zip code is $4.8 million. There are only a few hundred residents in Sagaponack, which is a beach community near Montauk. It’s a small village that’s only been around since 2005, but it’s still one of the most expensive places to live in the United States.


94920, Belvedere, CA

Located in the Marin County area of California, this ritzy zip code has an average house price of $4.8 million. Not only is it the fourth most expensive zip code in the country, it’s also one of the wealthiest areas in the country. Of course, it would have to be if it costs approximately $4.8 million just to purchase a home. The average family in Belvedere earns $250,000 per year. The city has a population of just over 2,000 residents.

10065, New York, NY

This Upper East Side zip code makes it third on the list of most expensive zip codes in the country. The average asking price for a home in this glamorous area of New York is $4.9 million. Located in between 59th and 96th streets in Manhattan, the Upper East Side encompasses streets such as Fifth Avenue. It’s one of the most famous locations in New York. Its known for its luxury high-rises, upscale shopping and beautiful views.

94022, Los Altos Hills, CA

Located in Silicon Valley, the home of the tech startups and computer savvy billionaires, Los Altos Hills homes have a median price of $5.4 million. Los Altos Hills is another area in California with a small population. The area has no post office, library or commercial or industrial zones. It’s strictly residential, and buying a residence here will cost upward of several million dollars.


94027, Atherton, CA

With a median home price of $6.7 million, this San Mateo County area is the most expensive place to live in the country. The residents of Atherton make more than $250,000 per year. It’s one of the wealthiest cities in the country, in the top eight along with Belvedere. One of the reasons this gorgeous little community is so affluent and expensive is the fact that it’s home to many of the world’s billionaires and the men and women who have made some of the biggest tech startups in the world.
