There are many things people would love to do but can’t because of financial restrictions. However, some have so much money that they can afford to do things that we may feel are crazy. These things may seem risky or even really outlandish, but here are ten crazy things wealthy people have done.
Pet Octopus

Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan doesn’t need to travel to see an octopus—he has a giant one, and its name is Bwyadette. It once outgrew its aquarium and needed a new one, and Morgan spent $400,000 to build a customized tank inspired by the movie JAWS.
Tiger Sleepmate

A huge sea creature in an aquarium is one thing, but Mike Tyson takes it one step ahead. He owns several tigers; his favorite is a Bengal tiger called Kenya. This dangerous creature, which once tore off his neighbor’s arms, lived in Tyson’s house and shared a room and a bed with him.
Mega Mansion

Mukesh Ambani spent nearly $2B on his house. The 27-story house is more than just a place to lay your head. It has a garage that can hold over 160 cars, a health center, and a snow room with walls that spit out snowflakes. There are also three helipads, even though they are not operational right now.
Extravagant Party

When Hassanal Bolkiah turned 50, he had the most expensive birthday party. The party lasted two weeks. Among the events at the festival were a free-to-attend Michael Jackson concert for 60,000 people and a polo match with Prince Charles. The concert took place in a stadium that was built specifically for it.
Space Travel

Secretly, a lot of us want to go to space, but for Jeff Bezos, it’s not just something he has done but it is also something he makes possible for others to enjoy. His company, Blue Origin, allows anyone to travel to space if they can afford it.
Helipad on Yacht

Roman Abramovich owns the Eclipse, a 533-foot-long yacht. Having three launch boats, a mini-submarine, a disco hall, and over 20 guest cabins is not enough—the yacht also has two helicopter pads. Before 2013, it was the longest private yacht on Earth.
Sports Team Ownership

Traveling across countries to watch a team play a game is expensive, but definitely not as expensive as owning one. In 2014, former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer spent $2 billion to own the Los Angeles Clippers. He outbid David Geffen—who had Oprah Winfrey and Larry Ellison on his side—to buy it.
Private Zoo

Before his death, Michael Jackson owned an amusement park called Neverland Ranch. The ranch also had a zoo, where he owned many animals, including giraffes, elephants, orangutans, chimpanzees, and tigers. All Michael had to do to see an exotic animal was visit his zoo.
Private Art Museum

The rich collect artworks, but only the super-rich build a museum of their large collection of artworks. That’s what Eli Broad did after he and his wife, Edythe, had collected post-war and contemporary art for over 40 years. The three-story museum is called the Broad, and building it cost $140 million.
10,000-year Clock

The Clock of the Long Now is being designed to keep time for ten thousand years if the project goes as planned. When it’s ready, people can visit it and think about time. Many people believe that the concept of a time doesn’t need such a representation, but Jeff Bezos’ investment firm is funding it.
