Now most of us will never know what it’s like to fall into the one percent of the world’s population that have the money to afford a million dollar mansion or a six or seven-figure sports car, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all admire the idea of having one. And since one very popular way to flaunt one’s net worth and status is by driving around a nice car, here are the ones which find themselves as being the most expensive. So if you happen to see one of these on the road, stare all you want, because you probably will never see it again in your life. Here are the most expensive cars in 2014.
5. Porsche 918 Spyder – $850,000
Of any sports car, I’m a big Porsche guy. Who knows if I’ll ever be able to actually afford one, but I can almost guarantee I’ll never get my hands around the wheel of a Porsche 918 Spyder, as it’s the most expensive car the German company makes, carrying a price tag of around $850,000.
Still, going from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and having a top speed of 190 mph, this whip would be one that I’d love the chance to someday at least sit in one day.
4. Hennessey Venom GT – $1.2 Million
Built in the United Kingdom, the Hennessey Venom GT isn’t for the feint of heart—whether it’s writing a check or going fast. Over 1,200-hp carries this ride to a top speed of 186 mph, with a time of 2.7 seconds to get to 60 mph. Seeing that it isn’t yet offered as a convertible, that’s probably by design, as things would fly out the back if it actually were an option.
3. Koenigsegg Agera S – $1.5 Million
While others on this list might be recognizable, I’m guessing only hardcore car enthusiasts are the only ones familiar with the Koenigsegg Agera S, which happens to hail from Sweden. With a price tag of $1.5 million, the Agera S better be all that—and it certainly is. Thanks to over 1,000-hp, it goes from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of about 188 miles per hour.
2. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse – $2.5 Million
The name Bugatti is synonymous with speed, and the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse doesn’t disappoint in that department. With 1,200-hp and a top speed of 255.5 mph, this stylish sports car goes 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, meaning that as fast as you can give your buddy a high-five for seeing one on the road, the thing is already long gone.
1. Lamborghini Veneno – $4.5 Million
Anytime someone can afford a Lamborghini, it typically means they’ve done pretty well for themselves. But the best ride that the Italian sports car company makes? The Veneno roadster, which not only goes from 0-60 in a mind-boggling 2.9 seconds thanks to its 750-hp, 12-cylinder engines, but starts at $4.5 million.
That’s a heck of a lot of cash for a ride, but when you can go a top speed of 221 mph, it’s worth it.
