Latvia’s Dartz Motorz Co.–builder of the world’s most outlandish armored vehicles–recently unveiled the Prombron Black Shark “Spy Grey” edition, a battle-ready armored SUV “spy car” built atop a Mercedes-Benz AMG GL platform that offers a number of extravagant features, including crowd-suppression lasers, anti-paparazzi electrified door handles, exotic leather interiors, a Bang & Olufsen A/S (BO) sound system, and a unique scaly look and exterior paint job. Dartz, the “preferred purveyor of military grade assault vehicles favorable to Playboy bunnies and fictional dictators,” uses a lot of movie references in its promotion of the super SUV–partly because its vehicles have starred in movies like The Dictator and The November Man and mostly because you can’t release a vehicle like this without at least a few James Bond references. “Let’s face it,” says Dartz boss Leo Yankelovich, “you are bored of serial made cars. We all are. Downsizing, eco-friendly recycled plastic materials and law regulations are making ways to stand out among the best in the car industry very inconvenient. With Black Shark fully customizable features and appearances, you get a car that is a one-off masterpiece and will forever stay that way.”
The fully-customizable Prombron Black Shark “Spy Grey” edition features the option of either a modified version of the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 from the GL63 AMG or a modified version of the twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 from the GL65 AMG, a max of 1,500 horsepower, electrochromatic privacy windows, disappearing door handles, a Kevlar and titanium body to protect against magnetic mines, built-in cameras, a rotating bulletproof grille, a distance explosive detector and signal jammer, a “Golden Eye” fingerprint and retina scanner security system, sirens and lights, a champagne holder, sterling silver hand-polished flutes, a golden shisha, a Playstation 4 and Xbox One, LTE hotspot, and leather engraved motives from aviation history. Costing in excess of six figures, a limited run of only 11 Prombron Black Shark “Spy Grey” models will be produced. Five of the 11 models will be sent to China, “where millionaires are being minted daily and displays of excess are still easily found despite a crackdown on extravagance.” The number of SUVs sold in China has jumped 33 percent in the first nine months of the year and is expected to grow exponentially as the rank’s of China’s millionaires continue to swell.
