Known for their superior sound quality and a heavy emphasis on bass, it only makes sense that Beats by Dr. Dre unveiled a set of headphones “inspired by DJs around the world.” Famous French DJ and electronic music producer David Guetta and Beats by Dr. Dre collaborated a few years back to create the loudest Beats headphones ever, the Beats Mixr. The Beats Mixr “offers unique functionality with signature Beats style and sound,” featuring club-ready industrial strength bass and high volume, rotating ear cups, dual input and daisy chain connectors, an in-line remote and mic cable, and incredibly durable–yet flexible–materials. Until recently, the $250 headphones were only available in the standard black and white color options. Now, the “Colr Mixr” is available in six all-new fully coated neon color options, including light blue, blue, indigo, green, yellow, pink, and red with a reflective Beats logo and matching colored cables. “The Colr Mixr packs a one-two punch of loud sound AND loud color.”
Beats Electronics, now a division of Apple Inc., produces a number of audio and electronics products primarily focused on headphones and speakers, marketed under the Beats by Dr. Dre brand. Headquartered in Culver City, California and co-founded in 2006 by legendary rapper and hip-hop producer Dr. Dre and Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine, Beats Electronics was acquired by Apple Inc. on August 1, 2014 for $3 billion in a reported cash and stock deal–making it the largest acquisition in the company’s history–and earned $1.5 billion in revenue last year. The company has also licensed audio technology to other companies for use in their own products–including HTC and Chrysler–and expanded into the online music industry with its 2012 purchase of MOG, and the subsequent launch of an in-house music streaming service known as Beats Music. David Guetta is a French DJ and producer of electronic music who achieved mainstream success with his 2009 album One Love. Guetta–who has a net worth of $45 million–has sold over six million albums and 15 million singles worldwide.
