What Do Rich People Buy?

What do rich people buy? According to 25-year-old J.J. Watt, defensive end for the Houston Texans, it’s a mystery. The young player just signed a 6 year, $100 million contract with the Texans, and he wasn’t too sure of what to do with his newfound millions, so he Googled it. According to Sports Illustrated, the NFL player decided to find out what to do with all his money on the internet. “I Googled, ‘What do rich people buy?’ Because I don’t feel like a rich person, and I don’t really try to act like a rich person, so I don’t know what they buy. I didn’t really want the stuff I saw, so I’m going to stick with my humble lifestyle and just keep working out,” Watts tells reporters. So…what do rich people buy? It’s a great question with many answers; the obvious one being whatever they want to buy. Read on to find out a few of the things on which the rich and famous like to spend their millions of dollars.

Panic Rooms

The very wealthy tend to be very paranoid, so they like to add million dollar safe rooms in their homes. These rooms are often equipped with emergency equipment, food, clothing and everything they’d need in case of the apocalypse or at least in case a crazed person makes their way into their home. Panic rooms are all the rage with wealthy people.

Diamonds

Who doesn’t love big, blingy jewels? We all love them, but the rich people of the world spend a lot of money on them. You have rappers with multi-carat earrings that cost millions, women with diamonds on their hands the size of a small animal and watches with diamond encrusted faces that are worth millions.

Expensive Homes

It’s the American dream to own a home, and rich people often own several expensive homes. They buy multimillion dollar homes in their hometown, in New York, in London, on the beach, in Hollywood and in the mountains. There should be a home for every place you visit at least twice per year in your name if you are wealthy.

Real Estate

Believe it or not, not all rich people are frivolous with their money. Some of them actually invest in real estate that they buy cheap, flip and sell for a profit. It’s a nice little business for those who like their money to make money – this is one of the more admirable things that rich people do with their funds.

Private Jets

When you have millions and millions of dollars in the bank, flying commercial is a thing of the past. A multimillion dollar jet with a staff and gold plated bathroom amenities like Donald Trump’s are what people want to buy when they are rich. Some wealthy travelers like to get their own pilot license to do their own flying, at that.

Expensive Cars

Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a car is not something most of us will ever be able to afford to do. Some cars cost more than some houses, and it’s just not a feasible purchase for most people. However, the super rich like to buy cars that cost more than the average American house and drive it around town with the top down, music blaring and rims spinning.

Personal Assistants

When you have millions of dollars in the bank, doing your own scheduling and shopping and phone answering is out of the question. Many rich people choose to hire people to do their dirty work such as ordering their mother’s flowers for their birthdays, writing thank you notes to their guests and hiring other people to do other things they don’t want to do anymore.

Expensive Clothes

When you have a lot of money, you don’t walk into Macy’s and buy something off the sale rack. You head straight to Saks Fifth Avenue and hire a personal shopper. Then you head down the street to Louis Vuitton and buy some really nice luggage to put your new clothes in and some handbags to go with it. You also buy shoes that cost at least $1,000 a pair and never look back.

Yachts

You can’t be an exceptionally wealthy person without a private yacht. Your yacht should cost millions of dollars and have a full-time staff, luxury amenities and be so big you have a difficult time finding a place to keep it until you have more time to actually enjoy it. Super yachts and mega yachts are what the wealthy like to purchase.
