Travel Destination of the Day: The Glenconner Beach Residences: St. Lucia

1

When the doldrums of life have you down, or the rain simply will not stop, you might want to take a look at a new residence in a place where the sun shines all year and the weather is always gorgeous. The Glenconner Beach Residences on Sugar Beach are six of the most upscale, high-end residences you will find in the Caribbean. This 130-acre estate is located just south of St. Lucia, and it was once the home of the elusive Lord Glenconner, the man who founded Mustique.

Each of the six homes features expansive balconies that overlook the Caribbean Sea and the private pool, living areas with ample space and a myriad of outdoor/indoor living features. The infinity pool is filled with fresh water and the landscaped gardens are lush and pristine. Each of the residences also comes with private access to a private beach, as well as all the amenities offered by the nearby Sugar Beach Hotel, a five-star Viceroy property.

It’s difficult to differentiate between a high-end home and hotel in these residences, but the price might help you make the distinction. Each one is being sold for $5.5 to $12 million. And even though they just went on the market, only five of the six are left for purchase as one was taken right away.

Lord Glenconner is not a newbie when it comes to making small places of relative obscurity in the Caribbean a place of wonder and high-end excitement. He purchased a little island by the name of Mustique back in 1958 and managed to turn it into a playground for the very rich and the very famous, and it looks like he’s doing the same thing to the tiny area near St. Lucia. However, it seems that Mustique is no longer as private and exclusive as it was in the past, so Lord Glenconner decided it was time to move on and create a new playground.
