10 of the Best Scuba Diving Spots in the World

diving

From Bali to Fiji to the Cayman Islands, there are millions of places to dive across the world. Scuba is an art that many people have mastered, many want to and many are fearful of. However, the idea of diving in the depths of the oceans in the world with the beautiful tropical life, the gorgeous natural habitats and the sights you cannot see anywhere else is just too much to pass up. As a Floridian, we are born learning to scuba dive and we take advantage of that on every cruise, every tropical vacation and every given moment we have.

It’s untainted beauty unlike anything else you will ever see. There is nothing like the water; it is so quiet, so serene and just perfect in every way. If you have never been, please don’t short yourself an experience you will never forget. Even if you can’t go to any of the beautiful places on this list – and there are dozens more we wish we could have included – go somewhere. I promise, it’s worth it; and these locations are among the most amazing in the world.

ambergris caye

Ambergris Caye, Belize

Belize is beautiful, and it’s a wonderful place to dive. You won’t find much natural beauty anywhere else as you will in comparison to this particular location, which is what we love most about it. There are many reefs in the area, but this one is most famous for having very warm water, and it’s also famous for having a number of sharks. Not all of us want to swim with sharks, but there are people dying to do just that. Pun not intended, but I’m impressed with my unintentional wit nonetheless.

spindadan

Sipadan, Malaysia

Did you know this is the only oceanic island in the country? It’s also one of the most beautiful locations that you will ever see from under water. It’s gorgeous with its corals that are both hard and soft, the many sharks that live here and the beautiful sea turtles. They are highly protected for very obvious reasons, but they are worth checking out even if you aren’t sure you can imagine ever diving anywhere else again for the rest of your life. It is just so lovely here, and the rainbow of beautiful colors beneath the surface is nothing short of breathtaking.

cayman islands

Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands are not just famous for hiding offshore accounts in movies and mystery novels. The islands are actually amazing when it comes to diving. Beautiful clear water makes it so inviting, and the many different varieties of underwater life are impressive. From stingrays to jellyfish to gorgeous weather throughout the entire year, it’s easy to see why people love to visit.

punta gorda

Punta Gorda, Costa Rica

What we love about this particular location is the sheer number of fish you will find here. It’s not as death-defying or crazy as some of the other most amazing diving spots in the world, but it’s beautiful. Nothing, in our opinion, trumps beauty which is why this is the place that earns our vote for the best of the best. Punta Gorda is home to some of the most amazing, and most numerous, ocean life in the world.

palau

Palau, Micronesia

If you’ve been looking for a reason to visit this location, make it the scuba diving they offer. It’s actually one of the most popular diving locations in the world right now, so it’s pretty heavily inundated at any given moment, but for good reason. It’s beautiful, and it’s also perfect for swimming with the dolphins, visiting amazing forests and scuba diving with creatures you’ll not see anywhere else.

the yongala

The Yongala, Australia

We know that Australia is well-known for having beautiful locations in which to dive, but we bet only the most experienced divers have heard of this one. It’s a ship that was sunk during a cyclone in 1911. There were a tragic 122 lives lost at sea during that storm, and it has since become a home to many beautiful sea creatures nestled along the floor of the ocean. It’s also a very famous dive spot, and it is highly protected under the historic shipwreck acts – something we bet you didn’t even know existed.

ras mohammed

Ras Mohammed, The Red Sea, Egypt

It might be called the red sea, but it’s actually crystal clear. There are a number of reefs here that are each filled with an array of wildlife that divers have on their list of things they must swim with over time. It’s one of the most beautiful locations in the world, and we are just so excited to recommend it to you if you are brave enough to do much overseas traveling these days. What makes it really exciting is that it’s so close to many European cities, and that’s why people love it so much.

beqa lagoon

Beqa Lagoon, Fiji

Who does not want to go scuba diving in Fiji? There are so many different places to dive here that it’s almost impossible to choose just one, but we find ourselves quite partial to this particular location thanks to its colorful corals and amazing views. The only issue is that it takes about an hour to get there from the main island, but we promise it is worth it when you arrive.

galapagos islands

Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

You’ve heard of it, you love it, and you have to dive here. I’ve known several friends who have made the trek to Ecuador for one reason or another and ended up loving the scuba diving available here. It is everything that you might imagine and more, and we love everything about it. You will see everything from whales to stingrays to so much more here, and that’s why people love it so much. It’s one of the most beautiful locations on earth, and it’s so diverse.

gili islands

Gili Islands, Indonesia

Many people dive so that they can see exotic wildlife, dangerous creatures and protected pieces of the ocean. However, the people who choose to dive here do it because they want to see things a bit differently. They want to see the sea turtles. You’ll see far more than just turtles, of course, but that does not change the fact that this place is known as the sea turtle capital of the world, which is highly impressive in itself.
