The Most Expensive Restaurant in NYC: Masa

Anyone looking for a high-end meal in New York City has come to the right place. With more than its fair share of amazing restaurants, the city is also home to some restaurants with the most expensive menus in the world. It only makes sense that the most expensive restaurant in New York City is also the most expensive restaurant in the world. Anyone looking for a reservation at this upscale eatery had better call months in advance or change their name to Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie.

Masa is located in the Time Warner Center in the heart of the city. Celebrity Chef Masa Takayama opened the restaurant with the idea that he’d create a tasting menu worthy of the most sophisticated palettes in the world; and he did. Masa does not have a regular menu. When you make a reservation here, you’re eating what Chef Masa chooses for you. To eat at Masa, the price is $450 per person. This price does not include alcoholic beverages, specialty beverages, tax or gratuity. When you add all of this to the bill, the total per person is typically upward of more than $600 per person – and that’s on the low end.

The restaurant is as chic as a restaurant could possibly be. With wood floors and wooden beams extending floor to ceiling, the bar is completely backed by glass, which allows diners to see into the restaurant. All food and drinks are hidden from sight so as not to interrupt the ambiance of the room. What further makes this restaurant worth the title of most expensive in the city is the fact that it’s a three-star Michelin rated restaurant – the best rating a restaurant could ever hope to achieve.

Before you book your reservation for dinner in the distant future, know that you can’t just cancel at your own whim. No matter how far in advance you cancel a reservation at Masa it will cost you $200 per person on the reservation.
