The Most Expensive Toys of All-Time

Ask any parent and they will tell you toys are grossly overpriced considering most kids would much rather play with the box that housed the toy than the toy itself. From Barbie to monster trucks to everything in between, toys are expensive. However, even the most elaborate luxury power wheel or playground set is not match for the cost of the world’s most expensive toys.

Golden Gameboy – $25,000

Paying a couple hundred dollars for a video game system that will be so last year in about 6 months suddenly seems like a bargain compared to this expensive handheld game. This particular Gameboy is made of 18k gold and features several diamonds around the case.

1982 World’s Fair Pez Dispenser – $32,205

This is not your grocery store pez dispenser – obviously. This particular dispenser is from the 1982 World’s Fair, and it’s the Astronaut B Pez dispenser. What makes this so special is the fact that there are only two in the world because they never officially went into production. It’s a great stocking stuffer, but it seems like it might outdo the gifts this year.

Actual Darth Vader Helmet – $115,000

It might seem like adults would be more likely to want this particular toy, but it’s just not true. There are plenty of kids in love with the Star Wars series and this $115,000 helmet is no exception. The mask is a toy, but it was actually used during some of the fight scenes in the movie, and it’s something your kids might want under the tree this Christmas.

25th Anniversary Teddy Bear – $193,000

There are few kids that do not care for Teddy Bears, especially in their younger years. This was designed as the 25th anniversary doll for Teddy Bear. It’s a limited edition bear – only 125 were made – and it features a solid gold mouth, and diamond and sapphire eyes. It’s one you might not want to place in the washing machine or let your kids leave at Grandma’s.

1963 G.I. Joe – $200,000

He’s been around for decades. He’s a favorite toy among little boys. This 1963 G.I. Joe doll is not cheap. It’s the original prototype for the toy soldier, and it’s pretty expensive. What makes him a bit more special than your average G.I. Joe is the fact that his uniform is hand-stitched, which is preferable to one mass made by a machine.
