The Most Expensive Sports Tickets in the World

sports

Sports fans are almost always hardcore fans. They love their team or player or sport and they’re willing to do what it takes to get to a game to see them play. Of course, that doesn’t mean they’re willing to spend thousands of dollars on a single ticket. They might enter contests and do other crazy things, but some sports fans simply cannot afford to pay the price it takes to get into some games.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Canelo Alvarez – $30,940

When this fight happened, it was a big one. It was so big that people were paying more than ever to get a seat in the match so they could watch and see who would end up the champion in the ring. Tickets were expensive in general, but many reached a record price more than $30,000 per ticket.

NBA Finals 2010 Game 7 – $57,950

When the Celtics played the Lakers in game 7 of the finals, it was a big, big deal. In fact, it was such a big deal that tickets for this game started (yes, started) at this price. The catch is that you have to buy two together, so you’re looking at more than $115,000 to attend this game.

Wimbledon 2013 – $65,000

While the Wimbledon match was a good one, prices did not start this high. The sheer excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the tennis event led people to begin paying this much for tickets because they wanted to be there for the excitement. Some people got in for less than this, but this was the most expensive ticket sold for this particular match.

BCS National Championship 2012 – $250,000

When Bama beat Notre Dame, it was a big deal. It was such a big deal, however, that people were paying  a quarter million dollars to purchase a box to watch these games. The seats were not sold separately, which probably made it a decent deal, but they’re some of the most expensive tickets in sports history.

Super Bowl XLVII – $316,000

This is just astounding, but it is true. Fans of the Ravens and the 49ers were paying this much money to obtain tickets to the game from 3rd party vendors. It’s not what tickets cost for the game, but it’s what they were being sold for – and some people actually bought them.
