For all those who love to travel, there are always a checklist of things that should be marked down when visiting a certain place. For instance, in London, Big Ben is a must-see, while, in Paris, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower should be spent perusing. But which European monuments are worth the most? We’ll tell you.

5. The Tower of London – London, England – Price: $89 billion

Although many attractions might be thought of first, the Tower of London remains to be one of the most popular places to see in the famous city. Centrally located and known for its great conservation, the monument has been used as a royal palace, a prison and fortress ever since it was erected in 1066, making it a building with some amazing history.

4. The Duomo Cathedral – Milan, Italy – Price: $103 billion

When people think of Milan, they immediately associate it with great fashion and style—which is displayed beautifully with the city’s Duomo Cathedral. Considered the most famous landmark in Milan, the Duomo reflects the medieval period, taking nearly six centuries to complete.

3. The Sagrada Familia Cathedral – Barcelona, Spain – Price: $112 billion

Designed by architect Antoni Gaudi in 1882, the catholic church is one of the most recognizable monuments in Europe—even though it has never actually been completed. Still, the church is a World Heritage Site and, in November of 2010, Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed it a minor basilica. Construction passed the midway point in 2010 and in anticipated to finally be complete in 2026.

2. The Colosseum – Rome, Italy – Price: $114 billion

The world’s largest amphitheater, the Colosseum is the most-recognizable symbol in the Italian city, with the estimated capacity at around 80,000 people. Used for events like gladiator contests and dramatic reenactments back in the day, it is now the biggest tourist attraction for any world traveler to the city.

1. Eiffel Tower – Paris, France – Price: $344 billion

Designed and built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 and standing over 1,000 feet, Paris’ Eiffel Tower is the most visited paid monument in the world. Welcoming nearly a quarter of a billion people per year since 2010, the Eiffel Tower features both restaurants and an observatory deck to enhance the visitors experience.
