Five Things You Didn’t Know about HGTV’s Property Brothers

HGTV is known for producing shows that pique the interest of homeowners and do-it-yourselfers everywhere. One of the network’s hit shows, Property Brothers, follows the lives of twin brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott. The duo is handsome, smart and talented, which is probably part of the main reason their show is so popular. However, despite what you think you know about the brothers, there are always secrets that will surprise you.

Their Parents Thought They Were Having One

For the duration of their mother’s pregnancy, she had no idea she was carrying twins. She thought she was having only one baby. Jonathan was born first and the doctors had no idea there was a second baby until they saw him working his way out. It might have been a surprise to their parents, but it turned out to be a pretty nice blessing for the family.

They Play Bagpipes

The brothers, despite being raised in Canada, are actually Scottish. This might explain why both are so comfortable holding their own with a set of bagpipes. The duo claim they both played as children, competitively at that, and that they have medals and awards to prove their talent with the Scottish musical instrument. We wonder if they wore kilts, too.

They Bought a House at 17

The brothers are so obsessed with flipping houses that they made their first purchase when they were only 17! They worked hard and managed to take the first house they bought and turn it into something special. So special, in fact, that they were able to flip it and sell it for a $50,000 profit.

They Were Actors First

Before they made it big on HGTV, Jonathan and Drew made it onto the small screen. Both brothers had an interest in acting, receiving gigs on some pretty popular shows. Drew was cast in an episode of Smallville. Drew made his acting debut on an episode of the X-Files. HGTV seems to suit the brothers much better.

They are Comedians

If you watch the show, you know that they’re both witty and quick with their words. What you don’t know, however, is that they’re comedians. They each have a comedy group and can be found on stage doing live improv performances from time to time. They’re pretty funny guys; check them out if they’re in town.
