Chris Brown Net Worth

Chris Brown

Chris Brown is an American recording artist, dancer and actor who currently has a net worth of $22 million. Brown has released six albums, two of which have gone multi-platinum.

Christopher Maurice Brown was born on May 5, 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia. His mother, Joyce, was a day care center director and his father, Clinton, was a corrections officer at a local prison. Inspired by Michael Jackson, Brown taught himself to sing and dance at a very young age. At age 13, Brown was discovered by Hitmission Records. Hitmission brought Brown to former Def Jam president L.A. Reid who offered to sign Brown that day on the spot. However, negotiations lasted too long and Brown eventually signed with Jive Records instead.

In 2004, Brown released his debut album Chris Brown featuring the hit single ‘Run It!’. The song was popular enough to make Brown the first artist to debut on number one since Montell Jordan in 1995. Brown spent some time trying acting after his debut album and didn’t release his second album until 2007. Exclusive debuted at number four on the Billboard charts. In 2009, Brown released his third album Graffiti. For a while, Brown was opening for Beyonce and supporting Rihanna on her tour Good Girl Gone Bad.

It was Brown’s relationship with Rihanna that eventually lead to legal troubles that would ruin his name. On February 8, 2009, Brown was arrested and charged with making threats against Rihanna, who was photographed with bruises on her face. He was sentenced to one year of domestic abuse counseling, six months of community service, five year of probation, and a five-year restraining order from Rihanna. It was the first of a many physical violence charges against Brown.

Brown started his own record label CBE (Chris Brown Entertainment) under Interscope Entertainment in 2007. Since his legal troubles in 2009, Brown has released more music including “Yeah 3x” which top the charts.

According to peers, Brown is a wildly talented individual, but has run into trouble in his personal life that has cost him in his career. Regardless, he still boasts a net worth of $22 million. Brown’s last album entitled X, which was released in 2013 was not well-received by the public. It didn’t come at a small cost either, according to reports Brown suffered a seizure at the Record Plants Studio in Hollywood, California while recording. Apparently, he did not want medical attention, but was taken to a hospital anyway. His representatives said he was suffering from extreme fatigue and emotional stress due from everything that was going on in his life.

Brown’s wealth has accumulated mostly through his music career and small acting career. He is not a marketable celebrity whatsoever and his music popularity has waned since his major hits released 4 years ago. This is putting Brown’s net worth in a precarious position. His only hope would be a rebound from the publicity nightmare he suffered with Rihanna and rebuilding his career from scratch. An almost impossible task, but still something that can be done. We will continue to monitor Brown’s net worth.
