Allegra Versace has one of the most famous names in the world. She’s the daughter of high-end fashion designer Donatella Versace, and the niece of designer Gianni Versace – the man who created the Versace empire. Despite the fact that she’s only 28-years-old, she has a net worth of more than $800 million. Who is the heiress to the Versace empire? Read on to find out five more things you might not already know about designer’s daughter.
Allegra Was Gianni’s Favorite
Because Allegra was the favorite niece of Gianni Versace, her uncle left her 50 percent ownership of his company in his will. He was killed in 1997 by a shooter in Miami, when Allegra was just 11-years-old. In 2004, Allegra turned 18-years-old and inherited her 50 percent ownership in the company, and her substantial net worth.
She’s Smart
Allegra is described as a bookworm by friends and family members. She’s not one who thinks her fortune and last name are enough to get her where she wants to be in life, and she spent her life studying hard. In fact, she’s intelligent enough to have worked her way into Brown University. She also attended UCLA and studied several different subjects including French, theater and art history.
She’s A Recovering Anorexic
When Allegra was 21-years-old, she went to treatment for anorexia. Donatella Versace released a statement announcing that her daughter sought treatment for her health problems. Allegra has not been shy about her experience, using it in an attempt to help other girls who might suffer the same health problems.
She’s On the Board
Her mother and uncle Santo took over the day-to-day operations of the Versace empire when Gianni was killed in 1997 because Allegra was only a child. However, she sits on the board of the company and has spent her adult life working closely with both her mother and uncle to learn the ins and outs of the company so that she may take over later.
She Has No Permanent Roots
For a girl who has it all, she doesn’t like to stay in one place too long. Allegra Versace is not only bi-coastal, she splits her time between countries as well. The designer heiress lives part time in New York, Milan and Los Angeles.
