Derek Jeter played his final game at Yankee Stadium in 2014, and it was an emotional night for all that were in the stands and on the field. The Yankee’s short stop has played the position on the team for 20 seasons, and making the decision to retire was one that was not all that easy for the superstar athlete. Fans are devastated to see him retire, and the search for the legendary player’s memorabilia is on the rise – particularly since he played his last game on his home field. Read on to find out which 20 Derek Jeter memorabilia items are the most expensive.

sock

Derek Jeter Game Sock – $409.99

Most people can’t think of anything more disgusting than a sock worn by a player in a baseball game. However, that doesn’t mean that people aren’t willing to spend a lot of money on a used sock. Not two used socks – just one. This particular sock is one that Jeter wore during a game in his long career with the Yankees. According to Steinersports.com, this is an authentic sock that’s available for purchase for anyone that loves the Yankees. There’s no word whether or not it’s a clean sock or if it still features Jeter’s sweat and foot odor.

Sepia Yankee’s Tunnel Photo – $849.95

This photo is taken in the sepia tone, which means it has a yellowish hue that makes it look a bit older than it really is. Not only is the photo a great photo of the Yankee’s stadium, it’s one that’s autographed by Derek Jeter. This is what makes the photo so expensive. Because it’s signed by the player that spent 20 years playing the same position for the same amazing baseball team, it’s only going to get more expensive following his final game. Additionally, it’s going to see an increase in price as the years go on.

Framed In-Focus Photo – $859.95

There are only 25 of these photos in the world. The photo itself is not expensive, and it’s certainly not the frame that’s driving up the price of these 25 photos of the famous Yankee baseball player. What is making this particular piece of memorabilia so expensive is the fact that each of the 25 photos comes with a signed autograph courtesy of Derek Jeter. $860 is a lot of money for a signed baseball card, and following the retirement of the pro player, the price is sure to go up. It’s probably going to increase significantly in coming years, so this price might actually be a bargain at the moment.

first ball

Jeter’s Very First Signed Baseball – $1,000+

There is a baseball that’s being auctioned at the moment that has the very first signature on it that Derek Jeter ever gave. The ball was signed by Jeter and his little league teammates when they were just 8-years-old. The ball was signed and given to the coach of his little league team and it’s the first baseball that Jeter ever signed. He remembers playing but doesn’t remember signing the ball, though he doesn’t deny that it happened at the end of the season when they gifted it to his coach. It’s the only piece of memorabilia of this nature, and it’s expensive.

Majestic Authentic Pinstripe Jersey – $1,199.95

This jersey is one that Derek Jeter did not wear, but he did sign it. The shirt is an authentic Yankee’s jersey, but it’s only the kind that can be purchased in any sports store in the country. However, with Jeter’s signature on it, it’s a significantly more expensive and more desirable shirt than any other. There is no word on when the short stop signed the shirt, who he signed it for or why it was signed other than just that it is the authentic signature of the player. It’s currently for sale online for almost $1,200, but it’s not an auction item, so the price will not go up.

Louisville Slugger 2013 Game Model Bat – $1,199.95

This bat was never used by Derek Jeter in a game, but it was held by him at some point. The bat features the Yankee player’s signature, which means that at some point in time he did touch the bat. It’s been guaranteed as an authentic signature, so there is no worry that it’s not. It’s for sale online for this price, but not as an auction item. How many of these game model bats exist is currently unknown, but it’s said that there aren’t that many and that’s why it’s worth this much money.

ball

3,000th Hit Ball – $3,870+

This is a ball you might think would be a little more expensive, but it’s not at the moment. It’s the ball that Derek Jeter hit during the game in which he batted 5 for 5 and made his 3,000th hit of his career. The ball is currently for auction with Steinersports.com and this is the current auction price of the ball as of September 26. The auction at that point in time still had another 23 days to go, so the ball could legitimately go for a lot more when it finally does sell when the auction ends.

maroons jersey

Kalamazoo Maroons Jersey – $5,975

This is a jersey that Derek Jeter wore in 1992 when he was a high school student that played for a league near his hometown. The jersey is one he wore long before he was a famous baseball player with the most famous team in the world, and it’s still a great auction item that sold for a lot of money. Heritage Auction’s Chris Ivy says that the jersey probably would have sold for a lot more money during the 2014 auction had the house been able to find a photo of Jeter wearing the jersey at some point. However, no one could find a photo so it will go down as one of the least expensive jersey’s the all-star ever wore.

game jersey

2001 Game Jersey – $7,170

On May 15, 2014 a jersey worn by Derek Jeter was sold at an auction by Heritage Auctions. This famous jersey sold for a lot of money thanks to the fact that the all-star player wore it at all, let alone on such an important day in history. Jeter wore this jersey in 2000. It was the third consecutive World Series win as well as the short stop player’s third season in a row of being among the top 10 in the MVP voting for the American League players. It was still early in his career and he wasn’t quite done letting the world know that he had not only staying power, but superstar power.

on-deck circle

3,000th Hit On-Deck Circle – $16,730

Heritage Auctions sold this on-deck circle on July 31, 2014. The circle is worth so much money because the short stop for the Yankees used the circle when he made his 3,000th hit of his career. Jeter stood inside this circle in Yankee Stadium just before he made that famous hit. The date was July 9, 2011. It was during that moment in his career that he went 5 for 5, which is the first time a player made a performance such as that in the new Yankee Stadium.

2003 World Series Jersey – $26,290

This is the jersey that the Yankee’s short stop wore when he played in the 2003 world series. The jersey does have a signature on it, and it’s been matched by photograph to the photos of Jeter in the jersey during the series. This sold earlier in the year at an auction for a lot of money. Where it was before the auction is unknown, but it’s estimated that before it went up for auction it was nowhere near as expensive to purchase. The seller likely made a significant profit on this piece of Derek Jeter memorabilia.

gold glove

Gold Glove Award – $30,000

In 2004, Derek Jeter was presented with the Gold Glove Award. It was not this one that sold in August for $30,000. However, this is not a replica of the award he was given during this season of his career. This is a secondary – back up, if you will – award. Apparently the manufacturers of the award wanted to have something on hand in case something awful happened to the original. This is from Rawlings and it’s the exact same as the one presented to Jeter in 2004. It was originally purchased for $19,000 and sold again for much more.

glove

1998 Season Glove – $32,816.40

It’s a black leather baseball glove designed by Rawlings. You can find this glove in any sports store for less than $100, and it’s a very commonly made glove. However, it’s worth a lot more than any other Rawlings glove you’ll find because it was the glove that Derek Jeter wore all throughout his 1998 season with the New York Yankees. He batted a .324 that year. He had 19 home runs and he stole 30 bases during that season. He also played a stellar season and this glove is part of the success he saw that year.

1999 World Series Bat – $33,460

It’s a P72 model that has the signature of the Yankee’s most memorable short stop. This is the bat Derek Jeter used when he was in the 1999 World Series game against the Atlanta Braves. He hit a .353 in that particular game and he had this bat to thank for that – partially. The series that year was a sweep, but it wasn’t until later summer 2014 that this particular bat finally sold at an auction. The price the bat sold for is pretty on point, and whomever decided to sell it did make a good choice holding onto it as long as they did.

SP Rookie Card – $33,842

This 1993 upper deck SP Rookie card PSA 10 sold at an auction for almost $34,000. It’s a lot of money for a card like this, especially since there is no indication in the sales record whether or not this card has a signature on it. It is noted, however, that this card is in mint condition. It’s one of the most valuable Jeter baseball cards as a whole, but this one is the most valuable according to many estimates. The search for one of these cards has gone up significantly since the baseball star announced his retirement.

World Series Bat – $37,486

This bat was sold at an auction in 2013. It’s the bat that was used during the 2001 World Series game just seven weeks after the monumental and devastating attacks of September 11th on America. The Yankees did not win the series, but Derek Jeter hit a grand slam during the game using this bat and it was an occasion that New Yorkers will not soon forget. They played the Diamondbacks from Arizona in this series. The bat is signed by Jeter.

grand slam jersey

Grand Slam Jersey – $41,825

This is the jersey that Derek Jeter was wearing when he hit his very first grand slam ten years into his career as a baseball player. The Yankee’s short stop inscribed the moment on the jersey and he added his autograph on the pinstripe, and a second one just for the fun of it. It’s been verified and authenticated as the jersey and it’s one that was sold at an auction in 2014 for almost $42,000. It’s a big sell for a jersey, but it’s not a big surprise given the importance of this occasion.

2008 Jeter-Used Glove – $47,589

This is the glove that Jeter used when he played the final season at the old Yankee Stadium. The glove was signed by the player and no one knows where it went after that. However, it was put up for sale at an auction earlier in 2014 and sold for this much money. Who bought the glove remains a mystery, but it’s believed to be the most expensive Jeter-used and signed glove ever to sell. This glove was worn the full season of 2008 and it holds an emotional appeal to those who remember the old stadium the way that it was.

early bat

First Bat Jeter Used as a Player – $50,787.50

Heritage Auctions was presented with the very first bat that Derek Jeter ever used when he played for the Yankees for their auction in July 2014. The bat was authenticated as the very first one the world famous short stop ever used during his career with his long-time team. He used the bat on his first opening day at Yankee Stadium – the old one – and it was also used the first five games of the season – each of which was on the road. The bat was originally purchased at auction in 1996 and it’s complete with Jeter’s autograph.

1996 world series game bat

1996 World Series Game Bat – $155,350

This bat was sold in February of 2014, not long after the Yankee’s long-time short stop announced that this would be his last season before retirement. The bat sold for a staggering amount of money, and it’s not all that surprising. The bat was used by the all-star player in the 1996 World Series games the year that Jeter was named the American League Rookie of the Year – unanimously. His team won the series, he autographed the bat and it’s now one of the most expensive pieces of Jeter memorabilia in the world. The bat was used in games 3-6 of the World Series.
