GoPro Hero 4: Five Capabilities That Will Blow You Away

GoPro Hero4

GoPro is an amazing company that produces small, high-definition video cameras that have been providing us with some of the most extreme videos and pictures since 2004. The company all got started when surfer Nick Woodman went on an extremely memorable surfing trip in Indonesia back in 2002. Woodman wanted pictures of his surfing adventure, specifically action shots, however conventional cameras would not work and photographers could not get good enough shots. So he came up with the idea for GoPro: a small camera that could be attached to a variety of things, most notably helmets, that would capture all the action providing viewers with a first-person look into various activities. The cameras are well known for their prominent use in extreme sports and the camera was famously used when Felix Baumartner performed the largest free fall jump when he jumped out of a balloon at 127,852 feet and exceeded speeds of 840 miles per hour. Since then the company has been hugely successful and was recently brought public this year. When the company filled for its initial public offering, they were valued around $2.9 billion dollars. The company has recently released its top-of-the-line camera the Hero4 which has a variety of amazing features. GoPro has launched 2 versions of the Hero4: the Hero4 Black and the Hero4 Silver. The black is the nicer version, so we are going to look at 5 amazing features that it has that will blow you away.

5. It is has double the processing power of the previous model

GoPro is able to pack a lot of things into a very small package. Weighing only 5.4 ounces with the water/weather proof housing on the camera, GoPro was able to double the CPU of the Hero4 when compared to the Hero3. This jump in performance is amazing and allows the GoPro Hero4 Black to be a solid improvement over the previous model.

4. It can capture 12MP photos at 30fps

Not only does this GoPro capture video but it can capture pictures as well. The insanely fast shutter speed that the Hero4 Black has rivals other cameras. The Hero4 makes use of its 12MP camera with 30fps ensuring that you will never miss the perfect shot.

3. The Hero4 is also good for capturing audio

Since the rise of the GoPro we have seen many musicians and bands use them to capture their set. Drummers often fix a GoPro next to their drum kit to be able to record themselves playing. With the Hero4 Black, GoPro is acknowledging that these cameras are not just meant for rock climbers and skateboarders as they have improved the audio system of their newest GoPro. The Hero4 has an improved microphone that is able to record audio 2x better than previous models. Additionally the GoPro Hero4 is compatible with a variety of professional microphones to help ensure that not only is the best video captured, but also the best audio.

2. The device is able to pair with smartphones

GoPro also included built-in wi-fi and Bluetooth into the Hero4 allowing users to be able to share videos on the go. GoPro has a mobile app that allows users to connect to their GoPro Hero4 and not only view their content, but also share their media and even control the GoPro. Since the GoPro is super small, it was not developed without a screen on the back of it, so this feature makes it quite useful for users.

1. It is a 4k camera

The tiny GoPro Hero4 Black is also able to capture 4k video. As 4k is currently one of the most high definition options right now with a whopping screen resolution of 3840×2160; it’s great to see that the new GoPro can capture 4k videos. Since the added performance boost the Hero4 saw, all video resolution recoding capabilities have been improved. The camera can capture 4k videos at 30fps, 2.7k videos at 50fps, 1440p at 80fps, and 1080p at 120fps. This incredible performance boost is amazing and provides users with so much in such a small package. I mean, we are talking HD thats comparable to cameras used to film Hollywood movies, in the smallest package ever.
