Car companies are a massive global industry that have multiple companies pulling in billions of dollars every year. Automobiles are pretty much now necessary in every country to get around and people are always purchasing new cars. The publicly owned car companies make a lot of sales and have bounced back very well since they were hit with the last financial crisis, so let’s take a look at the richest public car companies in the world.

5. General Motors – $54.45 Billion

General Motors was founded in 1908 in Detroit, Michigan. The company has been one of the longest lasting in the United States and produces some of the best trucks on the market. They have 396 facilities around the world and sell vehicles and parts for Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac,  and GMC.

4. Ford Motor Company – $67.86 Billion

Ford is another massive automotive company that was one of the country’s first. They were founded in 1903 and have expanded to offer all of their products worldwide. The company has three divisions; Ford, Lincoln, and Motorcraft which offer some of the most iconic vehicles that have ever existed.

3. Volkswagen – $78.71 Billion

Volkswagen was founded in Germany in 1937 and produces automobiles as well as luxury vehicles. The company offers some of the top rated and best selling in the market that have a nice range of price points for consumers, backing up their name by truly being the “people’s car”.

2. Daimler – $87.63 Billion

Daimler is an automotive company that was founded in 1896 in England. The company is owned by Jaguar Cars who continues to use the same Daimler company name. The last Daimler car to be released was the 2007 Super Eight model.

1. Toyota – $201.48 Billion

Toyota is a Japanese based automotive company that was started in 1937. The company offers their huge variety of Toyota vehicles worldwide and produces luxury and commercial vehicles as well as motorcycles and engines. Despite having tons of problems and callbacks with their products throughout the past decade, the company still makes some of the best standard cars around.
