Lindsay Lohan is an American actress and singer with a net worth of $500,000. She’s been in numerous movies and has released a few songs, but has managed to squander most of what she has on her controversial life choices. She’s been in the public eye since early childhood, signing a contract with Ford Models when she was only 3-years-old. Her fame and desire to become an actress grew as she appeared in commercials for companies such as Wendy’s and when she modeled for companies such as Abercrombie and Calvin Klein Kids.
Lindsay Dee Lohan was born in New York City on July 2, 1986. Her parents are Michael and Dina Lohan, and she has two brothers and a sister as well as a half-sister. She was a child star to the extreme. She landed her first acting gig at the age of 10, and spent a year appearing on Another World, a daytime soap opera. A year later, she became a household name after starring in the Disney film The Parent Trap, which was the 1998 remake of the same movie of the same name from many years before. It was a huge success and Lohan became instantly popular after portraying twin sisters who find out they are twins and have a sister while away at summer camp, leading them to switch places with one another to meet their other parent.
However, it would be another five years before she’d be cast in another major motion picture, Freaky Friday, yet another remake of an older movie alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. This was also a hit. It led Lohan to receive the lead role in the hit movie Mean Girls alongside actresses such as Rachel McAdams. This movie was such a success that Lohan couldn’t find peace from the paparazzi. She won several MTV movie awards and Teen Choice Awards for her role in this movie.
The same year the Mean Girls came out (2004) Lohan released her first album, which went platinum. She would release a second album in 2005, which went gold. She would also star in the remake of the hit movie Herbie: Fully Loaded, which was yet another box office hit movie for the teen star. The following year she opted to take on two serious roles in A Prairie Home Companion and Bobby.
Unfortunately for Lohan, her career would soon take a dive as she was arrested for driving under the influence twice in 2007. She spent a lot of money on court and attorney fees, and she was in and out of rehab for the next few years. It looked almost as if she was getting her career back on track in 2008 and 2009 when she launched a fashion line and modeled. She made some appearances on television shows such as Ugly Betty and even a made for television movie. However, by the time 2010 rolled around she was back in rehab, attending hearings and getting into even more trouble. While she did work a little during the period of time between 2010 and 2013 when she was in and out of rehab, she lost more roles than she gained. Once such role was portraying Linda Lovelace, the former porn star, which ended up going to another actress Lohan worked with in the past.
Lohan earned a significant amount of money throughout her career, mostly from her roles in major movies and her music. She even earned $7 million for one role in the 2006 movie Just My Luck. Unfortunately, most of her earnings were not wisely spent. She spent years paying hotel fees living in them for years at a time, amassing huge bills. For example, she lived in the exclusive Chateau Marmont in Hollywood for more than 2 years at one point. Her unwise spending and lack of investments led Lohan to squander the vast majority of her fortune. In 2014 she’s made noises about wanting to fix her life and improve it, and she was even given a comeback award in Italy. Whether or not she will manage to get her career back on track remains a mystery. In the meantime, she’s living her life adhering to the terms of her probations from legal troubles and living on her half million dollar fortune.
