The Most Charitable Celebrities

When you make tens of millions of dollars – or more – every year, you never have to worry about money again. It’s no secret that celebrities earn impressive salaries, and many people are quick to judge them on their extravagant purchases. Just check the comment section in any article about a celeb’s latest lavish vacation or gorgeous Hermes handbag. The truth is, however, that many celebrities are far more generous with their earnings than most people realize. It’s refreshing they don’t go around bragging about being do-gooders.

Matt Damon

He always seems like the kind of guy that would live next door and offer to help you mow your lawn when your week is just too busy to let you get around to it. While most of us will never know if this is true, the Oscar-winning movie star and director is exceptionally generous, which just goes to prove he’s probably a genuinely nice guy. He’s the cofounder of a foundation called water.org that helps to provide clean water to those in need in Africa. Not only did he found the foundation, he donates his money to it and he donates his time going around the country and helping to install much-needed faucets to those who need them.

Taylor Swift

The country cutie might be young and she might get her fair share of bad press for writing and singing scathing tell-all songs about her ex’s, but she’s incredibly generous – and not such a bad role model. The country crooner not only donates her money to a number of charities, she also volunteers her time. She donates both her time and money to the Red Cross, Children in Need, Unicef, Habitat for Humanity, Feeding America and ACM Lifting Lives, just to name a few. She’s been known to give benefit concerts and sing at benefits to help out in the name of charity.

Alec Baldwin

He’s hilarious, yet most people don’t like him because of his bad reputation in Hollywood. If it helps you to think a little more of the actor, he’s decidedly generous. He’s very involved in Americans for the Arts and PETA, being an art lover and big animal activist. He donates his time to both charities, as well as millions of dollars each year.
