Bob Saget

Bob Saget is an American actor, comedian and television host who has a net worth of approximately $100 million. Saget is widely-known for his role as Danny Tanner on the hit 90s television series Full House.

Robert Lane Saget was born on May 17, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pa. His mother, Rosalyn, was a hospital administrator and his father, Benjamin, was a supermarket executive. Saget began his stand up comedy on national tours around 1997. Around that same time he became co-host of The Morning Program, an attempt by CBS to take morning programming in a different direction – Saget wrote and produced content on the program.

Saget’s big career move came when he was cast as Danny Tanner on the hit television show Full House. Two years after being cast on the show he was also tabbed to host America’s Funniest Home Videos. Full House ran for eight years until May 23, 1995. After the end of the show, Saget stepped out of the spotlight for several years until he returned to stand-up comedy and performing as the narrator for the hit show How I Met Your Mother.

Saget has appeared in the Broadway Musical The Drowsy Chaperone for a limited four-month engagement. He played ‘Man in the Chair’ while Jonathan Crombie, who normally played the character was on a national music tour. On January 4, 2008, Saget’s caricature was unveiled at Sadie’s Restaurant. On August 17, 2008, Saget was roasted on Comedy Central’s Roast of Bob Saget. In April 2009, he debuted in a new sitcom along with his co-star Cynthia on ABC called Surviving Surburbia. The series, which was originally aired on The CW, ended after one abbreviated season.

Aside from some comedic tours, Saget also worked as a director for some television movies and the failed motion picture Dirty Work. He also directed and starred in the film Farce of the Penguins, a parody of the 2005 film March of the Penguins, which was released direct to DVD in 2007. He makes most of his money today as a vulgar comic and making a parody of himself. His royalties from Full House are also significant. Saget has a book coming out in 2014 through Harper Collins.

Saget is also an active philanthropist. He is currently a board member of the Scleroderma Research Foundation. His efforts have benefited thousands of people including Scary Movie star Regina Hall. Saget is involved with many fundraising benefits geared toward finding a cure for the disease.

As mentioned, Saget has enough outside business activity to drive his net worth beyond the residuals from his career on Full House. Full House was one of the most popular television shows in the 90s. It was instrumental in growing his name and allowing him to generate income after the show was cancelled. Saget also remains close with his former co-stars John Stamos and Dave Coulier. They have made several appearances, along with other former cast mates from Full House, in which they are paid. Saget will continue to make his money through his various activities.
