Sotheby’s “Return of The Nigo” Star Wars Auction Fetches Over $500,000

Sotheby's Return of The Nigo Star Wars Auction

One of the most anticipated auctions this year, the “Return of The Nigo” event hosted by Sotheby’s, has recently just ended and the entire Star Wars collection fetched a total of $502,202 dollars. For those unfamiliar with the event, the Sotheby’s Return of The Nigo event was a massive Star Wars auction where Japanese music producer and businessman Nigo sold his entire Star Wars collection that was comprised of over 600 action figures, coins, posters, toys, and other collectibles.

This auction was one of the largest Star Wars auctions in history, and many of the lots sold for large sums of money. As is this case with many collectibles and memorabilia of this nature, the vast majority of the products are still in their original packaging.

Three items in particular were sold for a combined $85,000 dollars. The most expensive item sold was a Canadian Star Wars “Empire Strikes Back” seven-figure multi-pack of action figures which went for $32,500 dollars, more than double its original estimate. This set was sold almost exclusively at Sears stores in Canada during 1980. The second most expensive item sold were two sets of Star Wars Power of The Force Coin sets that were released in 1985, selling for $27,500 dollars. And finally the third most expensive item sold was a rare Luke Skywalker action figure from 1978 that went for $25,000 dollars. This collection was one of the largest collections of Star Wars memorabilia ever sold at an auction, and it’s truly incredible that everything sold for about a half a million dollars.
