There is a Millionaire on Every Block in the United States

According to a study by the Boston Consulting Group, on average, there’s a millionaire living on almost every block in America. This fact comes out as the amount of millionaire households in the United States has increased by 18 percent since 2012, meaning that there are an estimated 7.1 million millionaire households in the U.S. right now.

With the 18 percent increase from last year to this year, there is one millionaire household for every 16 households in the country. Therefore, in today’s world, with about 22 houses per block, there will likely be, on average, a millionaire living either on your block or on the next block. It also appears that the country’s wealthiest individuals are only going to get richer, and they are going to be making more money faster than any non-millionaires will.

“Wealth held by all segments above $1 million is projected to grow by at least 7.7 percent per year through 2018,” reported the Boston Consulting Group, “compared with an average of 3.7 percent per year in segments below $1 million.”

At the moment, the United States has the most millionaires in the world. Approximately 44 percent of the world’s millionaire households live here. Also, the U.S. has the most households worth $100 million or more  with 4,754.

Looking at other countries on the BCG’s report, China  has the second most millionaire households, finishing 2013 with 2.4 million, an increase of 82 percent over the previous year, giving China more millionaire households than Japan, who saw its number of qualifying households not rise but fall 20 percent to 1.2 million.

Additionally, when it comes to the amount of millionaire households in a concentrated area, Qatar is number one. In Qatar, one in six households possesses more than a million dollars.
