The Least Expensive Law Schools in the Country

Earning a degree in law is not only tough because of the curriculum, but also because law school is tough to get into and then afford as well. For those fortunate enough to get into some of the top law schools such as Harvard, it won’t be cheap; however, there are plenty of safer options available. Here are the least expensive law schools in the United States.

5. University of Montana – $11,578

The tuition for the University of Montana is only $11,578 for those that live in state. The university is ranked as the 145th best and offers a great roundup of classes for those in pursuit of their degree. Even out of state students still only have to put forth a tuition of $27,513.

4. University of Mississippi – $11,283

The University of Mississippi offers an in state tuition of just over $11,000, which is a great bargain, especially when attending the 135th best rated law school. The University has a total of slightly over 22 thousand students and features a decent Greek life on campus. For out of state students the tuition is still only $24,692.

3. North Carolina Central University – $10,415

North Carolina Central University is unfortunately not even ranked, but the school is too much of a bargain for some to turn down. For in state students the tuition is only $10,415 while for out of state it is still only $24,343. The school is very small with only 8612 students but offers a solid law education for the price.

2. Southern University Law Center – $10,124

The Southern University Law Center is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is once again, not ranked for their law school. Yet, the Law Center still only costs $10,124 a semester for in state students and a mere $16,724 for out of state students. The school offers great facilities and teaching for getting a law degree, especially at this price.

1. University of North Dakota – $9,895

The University of North Dakota is located in Fargo, N.D. and is ranked 145 in the nation for their law school. The out of state tuition is slightly higher at $21,580 compared to other schools, but for in state students, a law degree only costs $9,895 a semester in tuition and is the least expensive place to earn a law degree in the country.
