John Phillip Stamos was born on August 19, 1963 in Cypress, California. He is the oldest son of Loretta, a former swimsuit model, and Bill, a restaurateur. Stamos began his acting career on the soap opera General Hospital, for which he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 1984.

Stamos’s career took off when the ABC sitcom Full House became one of the most popular shows on television in the late 1980s. The show had a strong eight-year run until 1995. He has appeared on stage with John Fogerty. Stamos has also appeared in four Broadway shows. His latest, in 2012, was performances in Gore Vidal’s The Best Man. He also performed in Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl alongside an all-star casts.

For those that followed Full House, Stamos’ character was a huge fan of The Beach Boys. The same can be said about him in real life. In fact, Stamos, who plays drums, keyboard, guitar, and various other percussion instruments has appeared on stage with The Beach Boys dating all the way back to 1985. In 1988, he appeared in their video for ‘Kokomo’, in which he played the conga drums and steel drums. In 1992, he sang vocals on a new version of their song ‘Forever’ for their Summer of Paradise album. In the past few years, Stamos has regularly appeared with The Beach Boys on stage. Among those appearances include a benefit concert for The Terry Schiavo Life & Hope Network and appearances on The Beach Boys’ 50th Anniversary Tour.
