Honda is Making a Luxury Jet with a Unique Engine Mount

A6

I’ve never driven a Honda and have no intentions of buying one. That’s not a knock on the brand, it’s just not my cup of tea. Then I saw their new luxury jet – and started rethinking my position. After all, Honda is killing innovation right now. Remember ASIMO – the robot that does everything – that’s Honda. Time for respect.  And time to check out what makes this jet unique (hint: it’s the engine mount system).

Obviously, a luxury jet is world’s different from a car, but this thing is awfully impressive. Honda has been researching small jets since the 1980s and it looks like they’re finally ready to disrupt the market. Enter the HondaJet – the multimillion dollar decade long experiment that is ready to blow your doors off. The six passenger bullet cruises at 420 knots, .63 Mach, and has an innovative power system developed through a collaboration with General Electric.

The result of a decade long research project has produced one glaring feature – The HondaJet’s HF120 Turbo Fans rest on pedestals above the wings. It looks cool – but the key benefit of them is the extra room within the cabin. The unique style makes this private jet a huge appeal for the super rich.

Yes, we do mean super rich. The jet will continue to go through a series of tests to finally gain approval to go to market and when it does it’s expected to retail at close to $4.5 million. Start saving your pennies – or befriend something rich – I’m going to want to take a spin in this thing!
