Hilton To Open Luxury Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas Called Curio

Earth Hour 2010 Recognized Around The World

Hilton Worldwide is launching Curio, a new luxury brand, and making the SLS Las Vegas casino/hotel in Las Vegas one of the first Curio properties. Curio will be a grouping of four- and five-star hotels, which will allow Hilton customers to earn and redeem rewards points under the Hilton HHonors program.

“Our customers and owners have expressed strong interest in a brand from us that includes hotels that can retain their unique identity but also deliver the many benefits of our system, including our Hilton HHonors guest loyalty program,” Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta said in a statement.

In Las Vegas, Hilton has come together with SLS Las Vegas in order to renovate and refurbish the former Sahara Hotel and Casino on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip. The new, redone hotel will cost both Hilton and SLS Las Vegas approximately $415 million. It is scheduled to open Labor Day weekend of this year.

Hilton looks at Las Vegas and believes that it has a real opportunity for a positive future there. With the U.S. economy expected to be more strong and stable within the next few years, this launching of Curio looks to be a very positive decision for both Hilton and its customers. Hilton should gain even more revenue with its new property in Las Vegas, as its customers will likely choose to stay with them in an effort to earn and redeem their Hilton HHonor reward points, thus allowing the company to benefit from those people who spend their money gambling or on special, “Las Vegas Only” events.

Meanwhile, due to Hilton’s HHonor program, Hilton customers now have a more affordable and comfortable location to stay in Las Vegas, which can only increase tourism and spending in what is already one of the most popular vacation spots in America.
