Frank Ghery Will Be Dressing up Louis Vuitton’s Windows

Louis Vuitton has tapped Frank Gehry, famed architect, to dress windows in the stories for the fall and winter 2014-2015 collection to commemorate the opening of The Foundation Louis Vuitton. The award winning architect is, coincidentally, the Louis Vuitton of the architectural world. Based on Los Angeles, Gehry has been in the news in recent weeks because he is in charge of designing the Bois de Boulogne Paris location of the Louis Vuitton Foundation.

Each of the luxury window displays debuted in September, and each one will feature a series of metal structures curved to look like sail boats. Additionally, famous painter Frank Stella will commission some of his pieces to the stores to also grace the window displays. The purpose of the window displays in each Louis Vuitton window is to appear as though it’s moving gracefully in the ocean. The sailing themed windows are unlike anything Louis Vuitton has ever done before.

To add to the excitement of this news, Gehry has also collaborated with the line to create a special bag and suitcase. It’s part of the Icons and the Iconoclasts project. Frank Gehry’s contributions will be placed in stores for sale sometime in October. In addition to his specially designed LV boutique windows, Frank Gehry has also designed a number of sculptures that will be used in the displays of three different windows of Saks Fifth Avenue on New York City’s 50th Street.

The collaboration between the two major designers is not the first time that the luxury company has collaborated with another for a line of special handbags, for window dressings or for many other things. Louis Vuitton is well-known for its frequent collaborations, and it’s something that keeps the brand relevant and completely desirable. This line is certainly going to add to the appeal of both designers.
