First Photos of NASCAR Dogecoin Car Released

If you want to get your name out to the public you should think about sponsoring a NASCAR car. A few weeks ago, not many people knew who or what Dogecoin is. Fast-forward to today: Josh Wise’s #98 car will be sporting Dogecoin imagery during an upcoming race at Talledega Speedway on May 4th. How’d it happen?

It starts with social site Reddit, who are no strangers to finding sponsorship opportunities. Members of Dogecoin, a subreddit, which tracks the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, decided to pool their resources together to sponsor Mr. Wise after noticing he was sponsorless. The group raised close to $50,000 in less than a week in virtual currency. That includes an accidental donation of $13,500 by the founder of the payments service Moolah lo, who mistakenly put an extra zero on his $1,350 donation. Regardless, getting to the $50,000 goal proved to be easy for the group.

The result is what you see before you – the Dogecar. First tweeted by Phil Parsons, the racecar features the likeness of Kabosu, the now iconic Shiba Inu, which just so happened to be the internet’s top meme. The participation of the Dogecar and Josh Wise in various NASCAR Events is all going to depend on how well the car is received and how well Wise does in race’s. For example, Sprint Cup All-Star race invites are based on previous year’s winner, top two finishes in qualifying races and driver with the most fan votes. We’ll see how well the Dogecar is received!
