Two Tiny, Complicated Reasons Why This Watch Costs $151,000

1770 MicroMegas Double Tourbillon

A tourbillon is a small and complicated device that is typically found on luxury, high-end timepieces. Aside from looking really cool and being constantly in motion, a tourbillon acts specifically to counteract the forces of gravity, allowing a watch to remain accurate at all times. They are difficult to make and are usually reserved for some of the most expensive watches in the world. Almost always, a watch that has a tourbillon only has one, until now that is. Meet the $151,000 dollar 1770 MicroMegas Double Tourbillon from Manufacture Royale, and it has got two of them because more is better. Right?

Manufacture Royale is a relatively small Swiss watch manufacturer that produces high-end pieces in extremely limited numbers. They have recently just unveiled this amazing watch, and it is quite the timepiece. The two tourbillons on the watch rotate at different speeds. The left one turns once every six seconds, while the right one moves much slower taking a minute to rotate. The tourbillons are connected by a differential system, which really makes this watch a masterpiece. The craftsmanship and the levels of precision that go into making a watch like this are on an entirely different level; it is truly a work of art.

Outside of the two impressive tourbillons, the watch is obviously extremely premium. It will be available in two different configurations. The first model is made entirely from titanium and is priced at $151,000 dollars. Additionally there will be a rose gold version that will start at $181,000 dollars. Both versions come with a leather strap and will be available in limited quantities.
