MB&F Launches Their Futuristic Space Pirate Watch

Forget what you thought you knew about luxury timepieces and watches, and take a look at the HM6 “Space Pirate” watch from MB&F. The company is a fairly small watch manufacture based out of Geneva, and they produce some of the coolest and most original watches around. They describe their pieces as “horological machines” and create some truly incredible watches. They are making timepieces of the future, and the Space Pirate is the newest watch in their collection.

The Space Pirate watch is the sixth watch that has been introduced in the companies “Horological Machines” collection, and its pretty awesome. The watch sports a very unique design that is hi-lighted by the five spherical, dome-like displays all of which are made from premium sapphire glass. The two spheres at the bottom display the hours and minutes by the means of smaller floating display spheres within the glass. The two on top display these turbines that move and are powered by the watches winding rotor. At the center sphere we find a beautiful flying tourbillion. The case of the watch is made from an advanced (and expensive) grade 5 titanium-alloy. MB&F explain that the turbines are air resistance and made to combat forces that the watch might sustain; forces that would upset or alter the movement. The tourbillion also has a protective shield that can be put over to protect from UV radiation. I’m not sure if that’s necessary, but hey its pretty awesome.

On the back of the watch we can see inside the watch and view the various movements that are shielded by more sapphire glass. There are apparently over 475 components that can be viewed, all of which come together to make the watch tick. The Space Pirate also boasts 68 jewels as well. Finally the strap of the watch is made from calfskin leather, and to top it off, the box that it comes in is shaped like a space ship. Only fifty of these bad boys are going to be produced, so you better act quick if you want one. Also you might need to remortgage your home as it costs $230,000 dollars.
