A Look at the Ballon Bleu de Cartier Vibrating Diamond Setting

Ballon Bleu de Cartier Vibrating Diamond Setting

There a few schools of though when it comes to luxury watch making: produce a subtle and sophisticated timepiece, or make one that is extremely in-your-face. This new watch from Cartier definitely follows that second school of thought, as one can easily see that an entire diamond mine was used to make this watch. Cartier is calling this new watch for women the Ballon Bleu de Cartier Vibrating Diamond Setting watch, and it is absolutely stunning. Let’s take a quick look at this insane timepiece.

This luxury timepiece is part of Cartier’s larger Ballon Bleu Collection, which has been a fairly popular collection for the brand ever since they introduced it a few years ago. Obviously the focal point of this timepiece are the multitude of diamonds that adorn the face, the band, the watches case, and pretty much every part of the watch. Now with the name, do they really vibrate?

Diamonds are cut in ways to reflect sunlight to produce that glimmering effect that we all know, which is why you often see models move ever so slightly when showing off a piece that features diamonds. Well Cartier did something quite special with the diamonds on the watches dial. While they are attached to the watch’s face, Cartier left a little wiggle room for the diamonds to slightly shake and move freely about. This produces a “vibrating”-like effect that is as beautiful as it is unique. When you combine that neat little feature with the watch’s black face, the diamonds really do pop.

The Ballon Bleu de Cartier Vibrating Diamond Setting watch features a time-only, manually-wound movement from Cartier that is known as the 430 MC. Additionally the rest of the watch is made from 18-karat white gold. When you combine these premium materials with the fact that they are only producing 20 pieces, it’s no surprise that the watch costs $262,000 dollars. To fully appreciate the watch, you have to see the diamonds vibrating. Check out this video to see them in action:
