Some people enjoy spending their holidays on a cruise ship or staying at a resort, others like to spend them riding a train for 2 weeks. For people who hate traveling this may be confusing as to why someone would want to take a vacation on a train. However there are a variety of high-end luxury train lines that provide guests 5-star accommodations while traveling through beautiful landscapes. The company Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has a variety of different train lines and trips all throughout  Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, and parts of Asia and the Middle East. They have recently launced their newest train line called the “Gold Eagle Danube Express” that provides guests with its “Jewels of Persia” trip.

The train recently embarked on its first trip earlier this October and it carried guests on board is luxurious rail cars. There are 12 carriages on board the train that are a variety of luxury sleeping cars, more moderate sleeping cars, a few saloon cars, 2 restaurant cars, and one car that has a bar; all being pulled by a classic steam locomotive. The interior of the train and the uniforms of the staff are remnant of the early 20th century, yet they still feel refreshing and luxurious. The company itself is based out of the United Kingdom however this particular train runs from Budapest, Hungary to Tehran, Iran crossing through Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey as well.

There are only 70 available spots for guests who want a luxury train ride complete with all the accommodations one would expect of such a trip. The entry level ticket for the 2 week, 4,350 mile trip is $14,333 dollars however if you want to go all out and purchase the nicest room available it will cost you around $40,000 dollars for the trip. This train line is thought to be very successful so far and Golden Eagle is looking into opening up more train lines in the near future.
