The Top 10 Performing International Airlines

Japan Airlines Takes Delivery Of Boeing 787 Dreamliner

If you’re like me you travel internationally quite a bit for work. It can be brutal with delays, cancellations and a dozen other issues if you’re not flying the right airline so when a list like this pops up I’m paying attention. According to sources,  Japan Airlines is the most-reliable carrier in the world, posting the best on-time performance. Flightstats.com collected real-time performance data from the top 200 airlines in the world and analyzed the data. After all of the real-time flight status information was harvested it was pretty obvious that Japan Airlines was number one by posting a 93% on-time departure rate and an 89% on-time arrival rate.

[For the report, on-time departure rate meant leaving within 15 minutes of scheduled departure while arrivals had to come in within 14 minutes of the scheduled arrival time]

Here’s the full list:

1.) Japan Airlines
2.) KLM
3.) ANA
4.) Iberia
5.) SAS
6.) Saudi Arabi Airlines
7.) Delta Airlines
8.) Air New Zealand
9.) Lufthansa
10.) Korean Airlines

Unfortunately, half of these airlines are in regions I never travel. However, if you do happen to be flying in that neck of the woods I suggest you book through one of these top 10 if you want to get somewhere on time. If you’re flying strictly in North America – Alaska Airlines was the top performing airline in the continent. Once again, not headed in that direction anytime soon!
